Mrs. Robert Powell Mary Lucile Fisher May 8, 1919 August 15, 2014 Mrs. Robert Powell passed away Friday, August 15, 2014. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 20, in the chapel at First Baptist Church of Waco with Dr. Matt Snowden and Dr. Randall Perry officiating. Visitation will be 6:00 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 19, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. Mary Lucile Fisher Powell was born May 8, 1919 in Waco, the daughter of John B Fisher and Eula Belle Berly Fisher. She married Cuthbert Robert Powell in 1945 in Waco. He died in 1959. Mrs. Powell held an Associate of Arts degree from Stephens College, Columbia, Mo., and BA from Baylor University. She had been active in many Waco organizations. Over the years, she filled a number of volunteer positions, including chairmanships with the Junior League of Waco, Staff Aide Chairman for the Waco Chapter of the American Red Cross, Chairman of the Women's Division in the United Fund campaign now United Way. Additionally, she served on the United Fund Budget Committee, as a volunteer for the Waco Public Library, Meals on Wheels, and was a docent for the Historic Waco Foundation. She was a director on the boards of several charitable and civic organizations, and was a founding director of the Waco Cotton Palace Pageant. She was an active member of First Baptist Church, Waco, where she had been a member since 1928. Societies and associations of which she was a member included the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America, Daughters of the Republic of Texas, Current Event Club, Kappa Alpha Theta Alumnae Chapter, and Junior League of Waco. Mrs. Powell was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John B Fisher, and also her brother, John B Fisher, Jr. Survivors are a son, Dr. Robert Simms Powell; a daughter, Sally Carroll Powell Bulkley; son-in-law, Timothy J. Bulkley and daughter-in-law , Virginia Collins Powell; grandchildren, T. James Bulkley, Jr., David Nicholson Bulkley, Lauren Fisher Powell, and Allison Carroll Bulkley; nephews, John B Fisher, III, and David W. Fisher, and several grand nieces and nephews.
