The Lorena Methodist Church was where she first joined and where she grew and was nurtured by a loving church membership of friends and family. She later became a member of the Austin Avenue Methodist Church where she found opportunity for service in the church choir and library. She also delivered altar flowers to homebound members. At Austin Avenue she was a member of the Friendship Sunday School class where she was appointed Poet Laureate. She was a member of the Epsilon Chi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society, the Waco Classroom Teacher Association, The Emerson Club, the Lorena Cemetery Association and the Mary Milam Garden Club.
