Mary Frances Owen

Owen, Mary Frank Beloved Auntie, born May 29, 1915 in College Grove, Tennessee to Dr. Wm. T. Owen and Johnny Moore Owen. Died March 13th, 2005, at Providence Park Nursing Facility, Waco, Texas. Graveside services are scheduled for Thursday, March 17, at 2:00 PM at Oakwood Cemetery, Waco, Texas with Rev. Art Torpy of Austin Ave. United Methodist Church officiating. A visitation will be on Wednesday, March 16 from 6-8 PM at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey funeral home. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Sarah Owen DeWitt and brother, Urban G. Owen. Survivors include nieces and nephews, David A. DeWitt and wife Betty; Sarah D. Thomsen and husband Robert; Wm. O. DeWitt and wife Hester; John U. DeWitt and wife Lynn and many loving great nieces and great nephews. Long-time Waco resident, graduating from Waco High School in 1933. As a young lady she was a loyal employee of Hubby-Reese Company Wholesale Grocers later becoming a highly valued employee and corporate Secretary-Treasurer for Davis Iron Works. She was an accomplished artist active in local watercolor groups winning many awards. A compassionate, faithful christian and loving member of Austin Ave. United Methodist Church, she volunteered as a Pink Lady at Providence Hospital for many years. She was a proud, honorary member of the Reuter Rats. She lived for several years in Clarksdale, Mississippi, and had many friends there. The family wishes to thank nurses and employees at Providence and special thanks to her great-niece and nephew, Joe and Lynn Carpenter, for their daily loving care.
