December 9, 1926 — July 1, 2004

HOWARD, MARY HELEN Mary Helen Howard, 77, of McAllen, formerly a long-time resident of Waco died July 1, 2004 at her home. Services will be at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 6, 2004, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with Rev. John Wood officiating. Entombment will follow at Waco Memorial Mausoleum. The family will receive visitors from 6-8p.m.. Monday, July 5, 2004, at the funeral home. Mrs. Howard loved her family and moved to McAllen to be near them. Mary Helen was a world traveler and shopper bringing gifts for her family and all her many friends from around the world. She was generous to a fault and will be remembered as one of those special people who enriched the lives of everyone she came in contact with. Her love of life and enthusiastic spirit blessed the lives of all of us who knew and loved her. She leaves behind many friends and loved ones. Mrs. Howard was a member of Merak Temple-Daughters of the Nile and Order of Eastern Star. She was active in her husband’s affiliations with Karem Shrine giving many hours of her time to activities relating to Shrine functions. Mrs. Howard was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clifton E. Howard, Jr. Mrs. Howard is survived by her sister, Ernestine Scoggins and husband, Jack of McAllen; nephew Jackie Scoggins and wife, Melody of McAllen; niece, Jana Beth Edson and husband, Jim of Highland Park; and great-nieces, Taylor Edson, Savannah Edson, Jacquelyn Scoggins and Somer East and husband, John; great-nephews, Grant Edson and Dillon Scoggins; step-daughters, Helen Boyd and husband, Johnny, and Barbara Nowakowski and husband, John; and step-grandsons, Brian Boyd and Scott Boyd. Pallbearers will be Johnny Boyd, Brian Boyd, Scott Boyd, John Nowakowski, Jack Stowe and Bill Ellis. Honorary pallbearers are the Nobility of Karem Shrine.
