Mary Katherine Scoggins September 3, 1929 - June 3, 2013 Mary Katherine Scoggins of Waco passed away Monday, June 3, 2013, at her residence, surrounded by loved ones. Services will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 6, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with the Rev. Craig Godby officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 5, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. Mary was born September 3, 1929, in Gatesville, Texas, to John and Mildred Bone. She and Lloyd Scoggins were married November 7, 1947, at Harris Creek Baptist Church. They were charter members of First Baptist Woodway, and Mary was the church pianist for many years. Later, they helped start Brazos Meadows Baptist Church in Hewitt. After working 25 years, she retired from Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center as a pharmacy tech. Family was important to Mary; her home was a haven for family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her sister, Billie Ruth Bone. She is survived by her daughters, Mary Suzy Needler of Valley Mills, TX and Janice Stone and husband, Gene, of Hewitt, TX; sons, Bill Scoggins and wife, Lynda, of Harlingen, TX, Gary Pogo Scoggins and wife, Debbie, of Lorena, TX, and Joe Don Scoggins of Weslaco, TX; 14 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; brothers, Larry Joe Bone and wife, Cathey, of Hewitt and Charles Bone and wife, Jeanette, of Hillsboro, TX; sister-in-law, Ruby Padgett of Waco; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Pallbearers are Matt Bone, Chris Bone, David Goff, Joe Padgett, Wesley Dawson and Mark Scoggins. The family wishes to thank Sandy Fraire, Sherry Terry, Margaret Cureton and Pauline Olvera for their love and compassion while caring for Mary. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
