Mary Kay Lightsey May 3, 1942 – December 28, 2006 Mary Kay Lightsey, 64, of Speegleville, went Home to be with her Lord and Savior early Thursday morning, December 28, 2006, at a local hospital. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 2, 2007, at Western Heights Baptist Church with burial to follow at Whitehall Cemetery in Woodway. Her son, Brent Lightsey, and dear friend, Rev. Curtis Holland, will be officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday, January 1, 2007, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral home. Mrs. Lightsey was born in Waco, Texas, on May 3, 1942, to Curtis and Selma Lindsey. She married Glynn Edwards Lightsey on June 12, 1965, in Waco, Texas. They were a very happily married couple and the best of friends. Mrs. Lightsey accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at the age of eight, and she truly lived out her Christian faith on a daily basis. She was a very active member of Western Heights Baptist Church for almost forty years, where she has served in many roles through the years. She and her husband were currently teaching the Kindergarten Sunday School class. She also served in many volunteer roles and on numerous committees. She truly loved serving the Lord in any way that she could. She attended Midway schools, and she graduated from Midway High School in 1960. She graduated from Baylor University in 1964 with a degree in education. She began her teaching career in Harker Heights, where she taught for a few years before she and her husband moved to Waco. Mrs. Lightsey’s gift of teaching affected many lives at Midway ISD for almost 30 years. She taught at Speegleville Elementary and at Hewitt Elementary. She was currently teaching special education at Hewitt Elementary. She was a wonderful wife, mother, daughter and precious Mimi. She also was a faithful friend to so many, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her precious mother, Selma Pack Lindsey, almost five years ago. Mrs. Lightsey is survived by her husband, Glynn Lightsey, of Speegleville; daughter, Sherrie Lightsey of Waco; son and daughter-in-law, Brent and Nicole Lightsey, of Fort Worth; daughter, Susan Lightsey of Carrollton; granddaughters, Jenna and Maci Lightsey of Fort Worth; father, Curtis Lindsey, of Speegleville; brother, Joe Lindsey of Dallas; dear nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends. Pallbearers are Evan Wallace, Mike Tawater, Sid Clark, Hayden Lindsey, Charlie Pack, Joe Burk Lindsey, Claude Lindsey and Bryan Lightsey. Honorary pallbearers are David Hickman, Charles Willis, Joe Ingram and Raymond Redding. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Western Heights Baptist Church, Whitehall Cemetery Association or an organization of your choice. We, the family, would like to thank the ER and ICU medical teams at Providence Medical Center for the wonderful care they provided for her and us during the last hours of her earthly life.
