MARY LEE COMPTON Mary Lee Compton, age 85, of Waco died Friday, June 20, 2003 at a local hospital. Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday, June 23 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel, 1124 Washington Ave. with Rev. John Carroll officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 22 at the funeral home. Mrs. Compton was born January 23, 1918 in Flat Rock, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her husbands John Lovejoy in 1974 and Hugh Compton in 1991. Mrs. Compton was a longtime resident of Temple and presently resided at Catherine Booth Apartments for the last four years. She was a Baptist and loved cats and playing dominos. Survivors include her daughter, Gloria Jean Walton of Penelope, Texas; grandchildren, Pam White and husband Shannon of China Spring, and Michelle Downs and husband Lane of Waco; great grandchildren, Cody and Dustin White of China Spring; sisters, Daisy Wood, Myrtle Dettman, Annie Bell Halford, all of Evergreen, Alabama and Bonnie Malizia of Cloride, Arizona; and brothers, Noah King of Bethlehem, Georgia and Jesse King of Alavarado, Texas.
