MARY LU JOYNES, 70, of Waco, died Thursday, June 28, 2001 in a local nursing home. Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Monday, July 2, 2001 at Oakwood Cemetery, Rev. Ken Kesselus officiating. Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home, 6101 Bosque Blvd is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Joynes was born April 7, 1931 in Waco to Lucious Ingram Joynes and Frances Cope Joynes. Her father preceded her in death in 1987. Upon graduating from local schools, Miss Joynes earned her PhD from the University of Texas. She served as a professor for several years at the University of Wisconsin. She returned to Texas and worked for Texas Instruments in Lubbock. After a number of years, Miss Joynes moved to Waco where she worked and retired from Texas State Technical Institute. She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. Survivors include her mother Frances Joynes of Waco and several cousins. Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. WILKIRSON-HATCH-BAILEY
