Mary Lucille Melton

Mary “Lucille” Melton passed away Sunday, August 15, 2021. Services will be 10:00 am, Friday, August 20, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Swearington officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be one hour before the service at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. Lucille was born November 5, 1922, in DeLeon, Texas, to John Burkette and and Sarah Janie Wood. Mary was educated at Zama, Mississippi. She worked at General Tire and Rubber Company in Waco, Texas. She enjoyed her family, friends, and mowing her yard with her riding mower. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald L. Melton; brothers, Herbert Loraine Wood, Thomas Lamar Wood, and Leonard P. Wood; sister Ruby Carolyn Wood; son, Leonard W. Hollingsworth; grandson, Leonard W. Hollingsworth Jr.; and great-grandson, William Gage Hollingsworth. She is survived by her daughter, Kitty Paulus and husband Bruce Paulus; daughter-in-law, Evelyn Lloyd Hollingsworth, granddaughter, Kitty Ann Powell and Joy Elizabeth Paulus Sladek; grandson, Joel Warren Paulus; great-grandson, Case Daniel Sladek; great-granddaughters, Jessica Chrisman, Shauna M. Hufstedler, Ashley Page Thayer, Camille Noelle Sladek; grandsons, Eric Moore and Allen Hollingsworth; great-great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Kay Hufstedler; and coming soon, baby Thayer.
