Mary Marie Levy (Stubblefield), aged 87, of Waco, Texas, died Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at St. Catherine's.
A graveside service and burial will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, April 5, 2024, at Temple Rodef Sholom Cemetery, and will be officiated by Rabbi Aviva Bass.
Born January 6, 1937, in Moody, Texas, Mary was the cherished youngest daughter of Loy (Pete) and Nellie Stubblefield. She married the love of her life, Robert 'Bob' Levy, on March 13, 1958. Together, they fulfilled their dream of having three beautiful children, Lynn Levy Neu of Fort Davis, Lester Charles Levy of Houston, and the late Samuel 'Sid' Levy. As devoted partners, they also co-founded two Waco landmarks, The Griddle Drive-Inns, serving the Waco community for over forty-three years.
Mary's contributions to the Waco Restaurant Association and her induction into the Texas Restaurant Association Hall of Honor in 1993, which is the highest award for those recognized for their efforts in the community at large, highlight her impactful role as a Texas restaurateur. Beyond her professional achievements, Mary was celebrated for her exceptional gardening skills, creating spaces that were the delight of her neighbors, and for her acumen as a bridge player, a game in which she excelled.
Mary was preceded in death by her beloved, Bob; and their loving son, Sid; her parents, Loy (Pete), and Nellie Stubblefield; sisters, Ernestine Boone, Peggy Thomas, Doris Hinkle; and her brothers Bill Stubblefield and CJ Rhodes.
Mary is survived by her loving children, Lynn Levy Neu and her husband Michael, and Lester Charles Levy and his wife Bernadette; granddaughters, Kate Neu and her husband Rob Mania, and Annette Neu and her husband Brian Oberkirch; she is also survived by her sister, Betty Farley; nieces and nephews, Mary Farley DeLollis and her husband Tony, Linda Hinkle Sweat and her husband Steve, Ronnie Hinkle and his wife Betty, Patty Boone, Cindy Boone, Carrie Thomas, Wade Thomas, Terry Thomas, and Bill Thomas, Slade Stubblefield, Shelly Stubblefield Allen, Suzy Levy Saballa and her husband Ron, David Levy and his wife Mary, Marty Levy and his wife Mary; as well as many wonderful great nieces and nephews.
