She worked almost 35 years for the U.S. Steel cement plant in Waco, from 1929 until her retirement in 1964. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Waco. In her roll as caretaker of the family, Myrtle devoted much of her life to the care of others…Mama and Papa Bailey in their old age deceased at ages 86 and 90, and her older sister Ruth deceased at 97. To the end of her life Myrtle retained a remarkably positive outlook and continued to entertain her family, friends and caregivers with her sharp mind and witty commentary on life. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Victoria Bailey, of San Antonio. She was greatly loved by her eight nieces and nine nephews and their families. Her caretakers during the last years of her life were her nephew, Dana M. Bailey and his wife Emily of Valley Mills, and her niece Sanda E. Bailey of San Antonio. The family wants to offer their sincere appreciation to the staff at The Regis, St. Elizabeth’s and St. Catherine’s Center for their devotion and loving care to Miss Bailey. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Waco or the charity of your choice. The family invites you to leave a message or memory in our “Memorial Guestbook” at www.wilkirsonhatchbailey.com. Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey
