Mary Peek

Mary Eunice Hargett Peek, beloved Wife and Mother, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2018 surrounded by her family and friends in Waco, Texas. Her visitation will be held on Monday, March 19 from 5-7 pm at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey funeral home, 6101 Bosque Blvd, Waco, TX. Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at 1pm, First United Methodist Church, 4901 Cobbs Drive, Waco, TX. Honorary pallbearers are Pat Adams, Leo Cutcliffe, Don Edwards, Buddy Haney, Tony Raineri and Paul Sowada. Pallbearers are Stan Crawford, Michael Jacko, Jacob Feldman, Joshua Feldman and Randy Wilson. Mary was born Jan. 2, 1933 in Holland, KY to Ella Meador Hargett and Marion Lewis Hargett. She moved to Indianapolis, IN in her teens and attended Ben Davis High School where she was a cheerleader and played guard for the women’s basketball team. Mary was an excellent student and was awarded a scholarship to attend Indiana State University in Terre Haute, IN. Mary majored in Early Childhood Education and was voted Basketball Queen in her senior year. There she met the love of her life, Kenny Peek, with whom she would spend the rest of her life, including thirty-five years as a devoted, career officer Air Force wife. Mary was 85 years young and lived life to the fullest for many happy years. She devoted her life to being the rock-solid support of her 35-year Air Force career officer husband and her three daughters. Mary was happiest when traveling the world with her husband, cruising with her bridge friends and visiting her beloved family and friends. She contributed countless hours volunteering for Head Start, the Officers Wives Club and East Terrace in Waco, just to name a few. Mary was a phenomenal cook and entertained with fabulous flair. She was always extending her generosity and grace towards others in bringing a delicious contribution for any occasion. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her dear Aunt, Idell Stewart, her Sister; Erlene Cook and Brother, Bobby Hargett. She is survived by her husband, Lt. General Kenneth L. Peek, Jr. USAF, (Ret.). Her sister Norma Perry and sisters-in-law Sara Hargett and Terri Tock. Her daughters, Dawn Elise and husband, Stan Crawford; Allyson Leigh Anderson, Elise Marie and husband, Michael Jacko. Her grandchildren, Taylor Anderson, Evan Feldman, Joshua Feldman, Jacob Feldman, Paige Anderson-Bowen, Mitchell Bowen, JilliAnn Rosemary Jacko, Allison Crawford Ritter, Julie Crawford Fine and Richard Allen Smith Jr. Mary was also blessed with four great-grandchildren: Ava Grace, Miles and Max Bowen and Rylan Lane Smith. The Peeks are deeply grateful for all of Mother’s friends; in particular Claire Raineri, our angelic accountant and helpmate for the past six years. We also want to express our gratitude for the attention of the wonderful caregivers, Marion, Misty, Norma, Linda, Portia, Luci and George.
