Mary Hortense "Tensy" Seelye May 20, 1921 - January 27, 2016 Mary Hortense Hall (Tensy) Seelye of Waco passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2016. Services will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, February 1, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, January 31, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Tensy was born May 20, 1921, to Ethel L Powledge Hall and Watts S. Hall in Boyce, Ellis County, Texas. She attended Ennis High School and married her high school sweetheart, George W. Seelye, Jr., in Dallas. They were married 62 years, until his death in 2001. Tensy was very happy traveling, playing bridge and “42”. She loved fishing and kayaking down the Brazos River, and playing golf. Tensy and George were members of Western Heights Baptist Church since 1959. She was also a member of Daughters of the Confederacy Chapters, Dallas 6, Dallas, and associate member of Mary West Chapter, Waco; a member of DAR, Elizabeth Gordon Bradley Chapter, Waco; and a member of Georgia Saulzburgers, early settlers from Austria to the United States to Savannah, Georgia. Tensy retired from Texas State Technical College after 20 years of service, and the faculty and staff referred to her as “GrandMa.” She was awarded an appreciation plaque by the TSTI faculty and a service award for appreciation of faithful, devoted and valuable service given to TSTC. She loved her TSTC family. She hosted the Hall Family Reunions and made 20 quilts that were given away at the reunions. Tensy was fifth of seven children: brothers, Ervin, Haskell and Rex E. Hall; and sisters, Tillie Hall Gibbs and Gwendolyn Hall Gay, all deceased; and James A. Hall and wife, Dorothy, of Garland, Texas. Tensy loved her family and had fond memories of the past years. Tensy is survived by two children: daughter, Peggy Bravenec and husband, Thomas Bravenec, of College Station, Texas, and son, Stephen Hall Seelye and wife, Kim, of Hewitt, Texas; her grandchildren, Rynda Sue Guthrie and husband, Gerald, of Bedford, Texas, Missy O’Brien and husband, George, of Hurst, Texas, Heather Hengst and husband, Greg Hengst, of Throndale, Texas, Chad Stephen Seelye of Waco, and Caitlyn Seelye of Hewitt; two great grandchildren, Tarah Hoover Stallings and husband, Seth, and Koleman Hengst; three step granchildren, and three step great grandchildren.
