Mary Violet Williams Saffle June 8, 1916- November 18, 2006 Mary Violet Williams Saffle passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2006. There will be a private graveside service for family. Mary Violet Williams Saffle was born on June 8, 1916 in Victoria County, Texas. The eldest daughter of Collatinus LeRoy Williams and Mary Louisa Mason, she grew up in Kerrville and Port Lavaca, Texas. After graduating from the Port Lavaca High School, Mrs. Saffle then moved to Gonzales to assist in the care of her grandmother. While vacationing in Brackettville, Texas, she met a young soldier, Abner Lanty Saffle, whom she married on February 5, 1935. After his tour of duty they moved to Waco, Texas. There they raised 3 children: Shirlene Sylvia Saffle, Paul David Saffle, and Vicki Linda Saffle. Mrs. Saffle was a homemaker before becoming a supervisor for the Texas Coffin Company. She worked there for 28 years, retiring in June 1981. After retirement, Mr. and Mrs. Saffle moved to Hewitt, Texas to be near their daughters. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lanty Saffle, and their son, Paul David Saffle; brother Clinton Williams; sister Fern Saffle; son-in-law Marvin R. Lands; and granddaughter Charlette Renee Threadgill. She is survived by her daughter Shirlene Sylvia Lands; daughter Vicki Linda Adams and husband, Michael Floyd Adams; sister Sybil Dale; eight grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to express a special thank you to the dedicated staff of Royal Manor for the loving care given to Mrs. Saffle. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to the Hewitt Church of Christ.
