Mary Wammack, 91, passed away Saturday, February 3, 2018, at Wesley Woods Nursing Home. Graveside Services will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 8, at Waco Memorial Park with Rev. Greg Brumit officiating. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 7, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. Mary was born February 27, 1926, in Bruceville, Texas, to Albert Taylor and Clara Singletary Taylor. The family moved to Waco, and she attended Waco schools and graduated from Waco High School in 1943. Starting as a telephone operator during the War, Mary also worked in two other departments at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. She retired in 1984 with forty years of service. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, Hub O’ Texas Club, Communications Workers of America Local No. 12225. Mary was a member of Western Heights Baptist Church. She married Marvin Wammack December 30, 1952. He passed away December 19, 1981. They enjoyed traveling with the Karem Shriners. Mary enjoyed gardening and entertaining friends and family. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and beloved brother, Richard L. Taylor and wife, Emma Joyce Biddle Taylor. She is survived by her nieces, Nancy Lankford and husband, Melvin, of Robinson, Texas; Elizabeth Kreder and husband, Alvin, of Ross; and Rebecca Taylor of Lorena, Texas; great nieces, Valerie Kemp, Lisa Lankford, Kristy Hahn, Kelly Foote, and Amanda Sanchez; great nephews, Kyler Kemp, Kolton, Camden and Konner Foote, and Nicholas and Dustin Sanchez; and her lifelong friends are Sarah Lefevers, Jewell Wood and Bonnie Fuqua.
