Matthew Nicholas Barrera

Matthew Nicholas Barrera, 30, passed away November 9, 2017. Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 13, at Oakwood Cemetery. Randall Perry will officiate. Visitation will be 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 12, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. Matthew was born in Waco, Texas on August 17, 1987. Matthew graduated from Waco High School and Texas A&M University and he was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. After graduating from Texas A&M, Matthew returned to Waco and managed the Robinson Greenhouse. Matthew loved to play poker, travel, spend time with and family, and he loved to cook. Matthew is preceded in death by his maternal great-grandmother, Lazara Veracruz, and grandfather Angel Portillo, paternal grandmother, Celia Barrera, and grandfather Bernadino Barrera. Matthew is survived by his parents, Nick and Diane Barrera, brother Kevin and wife Stephanie, brother Joshua Barrera, nephews Aaron and Aiden Barrera, grandmother Janie Portillo, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Honorary Pallbearers will be Andy Patillo, Blake Browder, Cameron McBurnett, Randy Ordones, and Cory Duncan.
