Maureen Pruitt October 5, 1928 - March 18, 2011 Maureen Pruitt of Woodway went home to be with the Lord, March 18, 2011, after a brief illness. She will be buried beside her husband at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida. Honoring her request, a funeral is not planned. Maureen was born October 5, 1928, in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, to George and Charlotte Crawford. She attended schools in Philadelphia and graduated from Temple University with a B.A. and M.A. degrees in Education. Before graduation, she co-edited the Philadelphia Electric Company magazine and later volunteered for the Red Cross while her husband was in the Army Reserves in Virginia. She taught and developed curriculum for special education while living in Allentown, PA. She received Jesus as her Savior and Lord at the age of 12 and served Him faithfully for many years. She taught Sunday school, helped with the high school youth group in her church, and wrote articles for child evangelism. In the mid-80's she and her husband moved to Florida, where they were a great blessing to many other retirees at Shepherd Community and Maranatha Baptist Retirement Center. Shortly after her husband passed away in June 2010, she relocated to Woodway, TX, to live with her sister and brother-in-law. She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton, and her parents. She is survived by, and will be greatly missed by, her sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Phil Beatty; niece, Barbara Gurka and husband, James; nephews, John Beatty and wife, Suzanne; Robert Beatty and wife, Kaye, and their sons, Kyle and Daniel; and Paul Beatty and wife, Carol, and their children, Elizabeth, Scott, Christopher, JohnMark and Matthew. Her family would like to thank the doctors and nurses who provided loving competent care for her in the ER and 4th floor of Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center during her final days, as well as Dr. Crawford Allison and his nurses who kindly oversaw her care while she was in Texas. The family invites you to leave a message or memory in our "Memorial Guestbook" at www.WilkirsonHatchBailey.com.
