Max Loyd Bunting of Woodway, Texas, lived his dash. He died Monday, May 9, 2016. His service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 13, at Richfield Christian Church with the Rev. Alec Ylitalo and Rev. David Story officiating. There will be a private family burial. Visitation will be from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Thursday, May 12, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. Max was born February 18, 1931, in Olney, Illinois, to Ivan and Ruth Johnson Bunting. He grew up on a small farm in Southeastern Illinois, one of five children. Max graduated from Johnson Bible College, Knoxville, Tenn., and obtained an MSW from UT Arlington. He taught school and was a pastor in the Christian Church for 17 years, and then worked as a social worker with Texas DHS for 27 years. After retiring, he enjoyed doing social science surveys, substitute teaching, and volunteering at the Waco Center for Youth. Max loved his family at Richfield Christian Church where he attended for 37 years. He was an avid gardener, runner, reader and golfer. He was still running competitively at 75 and got his 1st hole in 1 at 83. Max was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Helen Bunting, Woodway; and three children, Amy Grogan, of Everberg, Belgium; Brad and Jim Bunting, both of Corpus Christi, Texas; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Richfield Christian Church or Cal Farley Ranch, 600 SW 11th Ave., Amarillo, TX 79101.
