Maynard J. Sonny Wizig, 82, died Friday, October 25, 2002 at his home in Waco. Graveside services will be at 12:00 noon Monday October 28, at Agudath Jacob Cemetery with Rabbi Shaina Bacharach officiating. Mr. Wizig was born in Waco, October 24, 1920. He was a graduate of Waco High School in 1938, and Texas A & M University in 1942. He also attended Notre Dame. He married Zell Tobolowsky in 1947, in Dallas. Mr. Wizig served in World War II in US Army Intelligence and Reconnaissance. He was a member of Herring Masonic Lodge 1224, and was honored as a Scottish Rite KCCH. He retired after 30 years as a design engineer for the Texas Highway. Department. He was a member of Agudath Jacob Synagogue. He was particularly proud of his effort to help establish the Waco Scottish Rite Holocaust Museum. Mr. Wizig is survived by his wife, Zell of Waco; daughter, Janet and her husband, Brad Barankin, of Pittsburgh, Penn. He is also survived by a son, Richard Wizig of Minneapolis Minn.; granddaughter, Tori Barankin, and sister, Goldie Wittmann. A Minyan will be held at 5:30 p.m. Monday at 5724 Shadywood.
