Melba Clark Bowers passed away Monday, March 5, 2018. Graveside services will be 3:00 p.m., Saturday, March 10, at Waco Memorial Park with her nephew, Rev. James Baldridge, officiating. Visitation will be 1:00-2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 10, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home Garden Room. Melba was born September 10, 1928, in Redwater, Texas, to Hollis and Gertrude Allen Clark. Melba graduated from East Texas State Teachers College, now known as Texas A&M - Commerce. She worked as a teacher for twenty years, most of which was in the Waco Independent School District. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed gardening and music. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lawrence R. Bowers; and her sister, Joye White. She is survived by her two daughters, Patricia Kay Bowers of Waco and Linda Fisseler and husband, Dale, of Waco; three grandchildren, Jeff Parham, Stephanie Fisseler Windhorst and husband, Zach, and Ben Fisseler; two great-grandchildren, Avery and Gage Windhorst; and her brother, Harold Clark of Austin. The family would like to acknowledge her caregivers over the years at Sodalis Memory Care, Heartis Waco, Living Springs Memory Care, and the Lucy Lupu family.
