Melton Ollen Connell June 4, 1917 - December 8, 2010 Melton Ollen Connell of Waco went to be with his Lord and Savior, Wednesday, December 8, 2010. Services will be at 1:30 p.m., Friday, December 10, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with the Rev. D. Michael Toby and Rev. Jim Gray officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, December 9, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Melton was born June 4, 1917 in Crowell, Texas to Ollen and Minnie Connell. He served our country both in the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force during WWII where he trained as a meteorologist. He retired from the Waco Weather Bureau in 1971. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Julie Olga Halencak Connell; and son, Michael Connell and wife, Cindy, all of Waco; grandchildren, Cari Edison and husband, Ricky, Dr. Cayce Connell, Chance Connell and wife, Paige; and one great grandson, Mase Edison. He is also survived by one brother, Kenneth Connell and his wife. Pallbearers are Gaylan Beavers, Brian Boyd, Chance Connell, Ricky Edison, Steve Ostrom, Woody Rogers, Mike Reitmeier and Mark Tynes. Honorary pallbearers are The Anglers Sunday School Class of First Baptist Woodway. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Woodway or the charity of your choice.
