Merlin K. Cash

MERLIN CASH Merlin Kenneth Cash, excellent father, husband, friend and gentleman, rejoined his wife and best friend of 60 years on June 14, after a brief illness. Services will be 11:00AM, Monday, June 17 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Waco with the Rev. Ken Kesselus officiating. There will be a visitation for friends and family at the Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room from 3 until 5PM Sunday, June 16. Merlin Cash was born November 3, 1913 in Comanche, Texas to Dan Wendell Cash and Myra Belle McNeece. He married Marjorie Mell Nabors on June 1, 1941 in Waco, Texas. Mr. Cash attended Waco schools, graduating from Baylor and later earning a master’s degree from Northwestern University. He served in Naval intelligence in Hawaii during WWII. Upon returning to Waco, Mr. Cash had a 30 year career in the retail industry. He worked for Goldstein-Migel as a merchandise manager until he and his wife opened The Colony Shop in 1955. When they sold the business in 1975, the Cashes embarked upon a second career, spending the ensuing 25 years traveling the world. Mr. Cash was an accomplished musician who worked his way through college playing the organ at Central Christian Church and funeral homes. He was preceded in death by his wife Marjorie, daughter Ann Cash Harwell and brothers, Dan Worth Cash and Harold Victor Cash. Survivors: son and daughter in law, Richard Merlin Cash and Wanda Garner Cash of Baytown; son in law David W. Harwell of Kilgore; grandsons, David W. Harwell, Jr. of Dallas, Austin Garner Cash and Cooper McNeece Cash of Baytown and many beloved nieces and nephews. WILKIRSON-HATCH-BAILEY
