Michael Edward Hurtado

Michael Edward Hurtado—"Big Mike”—passed away surrounded by his loving family on May 30, 2021. The funeral service will occur on June 7 at 10am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Visitation will be Sunday, June 6, from 5-7 pm, followed by a rosary at 7 pm at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. Mike was born on August 18, 1958, in Waco, Texas. He graduated from Reicher Catholic High School and received his automotive certification from Texas State Technical Institute. After graduation from TSTI, he worked for Bird Kultgen, where he spent nineteen years as a heavy truck mechanic. He then continued his career of twenty-five years at Coca-Cola, eventually becoming lead mechanic. He was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. His greatest joys were barbequing, spending time with family, and going to the beach. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ascension and Helen Hurtado. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Miguel and Yuli, daughter Marina Hurtado, and two grandchildren. His siblings include Gilbert Hurtado, Mary Elizabeth Wilson and her husband Rob. He has one niece, Kathryn Wilson, and one nephew, John Wilson. Pallbearers will be Johnny Ruiz, Patrick Duron, Kenneth Duron, Ralph Carrizales, Arthur Almanza and Rosendo Escobar.
