DICK, MICHAEL Michael G. Dick, 52, passed away on Friday, October 31, 2003 in Austin, Texas. Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 5, 2003 at Westlake Hills Presbyterian Church in Austin. Arrangements are through Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home, 6101 Bosque Blvd, Waco, Texas. Mike was born in Waco, Texas on March 8, 1951. He attended Waco schools and graduated from Richfield High School in 1969. He was awarded the Eagle Scout Citation of the Boy Scouts of America on May 10, 1964. Mike graduated from the University of Texas with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology in 1973. Shortly after graduation, he began work at the Texas Water Quality Board and continued working there and at its successor agencies until 1985, when he left to enter private consulting. From 1985 until 1997, Mike was employed by Jones & Neuse and RMT, Inc. as an environmental consultant. In 1997, Mike formed JD Consulting, L.P. with his longtime friend and business associate, Bob Jones. Through their efforts and with the support of their valued employees, JDC became one of the most successful environmental consulting firms in Texas, with offices in Austin, Corpus Christi, Beaumont, and Houston. JDC’s clients include the Valero Corporation, Union Pacific Railroad, ExxonMobil, Chevron Phillips, ConocoPhillips, and Dover Industries. Mike was an avid sportsman who spent many happy hours quail hunting and fishing. A natural athlete who excelled in sports, he played the position of catcher on the 1962 Little League Championship Team of Steakley Brothers Chevrolet in Waco. In adulthood, Mike became an accomplished golfer. After his marriage to Mary, he enjoyed their many vacations together, both here and abroad. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Dick of Waco and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ode Dick. Mike is survived by his wife, Mary; his sisters, Allison Hewitt and husband Jim Davis of Austin, and Diane Stanley and husband Chuck of Waco; his nieces, Melanie Van Barcum of Waco and Michelle Knight of Tyler; two great-nieces; and his sister-in-law, Sally Reagan. As well as countless friends and colleagues who delighted in Mike’s charm, wit and fun-loving nature. Mike also leaves behind his beloved English setter, Dottie, who was his hunting dog and cherished companion.
