Michael Wayne Jackson February 5, 1946 - February 21, 2013 Michael Wayne Jackson of China Spring passed away Thursday, February 21, 2013. Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 26, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with the Rev. Ron Durham officiating. Michael was born February 5, 1946 in Mexia, Texas to Conrad and Billie Jackson. After graduating from Grand Prairie High School in 1964, he was awarded a golf scholarship to Texas Wesleyan University where he received his bachelors in business administration and business management in 1968. He went on to pursue his Master's in Business Administration at University of North Texas. In 1969, he voluntarily enrolled in the Armed Services. While proudly serving his country, he taught officers in the Army College, trained soldiers in weaponry, trained military dogs, flew as a pilot, and earned the rank of second lieutenant before being honorably discharged to serve at another post. He was recognized for outstanding performance in infantry school, superior grades in academics and leadership, and several medals of commendation for meritorious service as an instructor, mortar committee, weapons department, and infantry school. Although his skill and schooling led him to a successful career in building and construction, he also traveled the countryside of Italy working for a marble company where he was self-taught and fluent in Italian. In 1997, he married the love of his life, Jan Marstaller. Michael was past President of the Central Texas Chapter of the Associated General Contractors of Texas; State Director of the Texas Building Branch-AGC, past Chairman of the Legislative Committee, member of the Board of Adjustments and Appeals for the City of Waco, and on the board of the Barton Creek Owners Club. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Jan Jackson of China Spring, TX; his daughters, Jessica Jackson of San Francisco, CA., Kimberly Whitethorn of Santa Monica, CA., Kelli Wiethorn of Austin, TX; his sons, Chris Jackson of Marathon, TX, and Parker Jackson of Boulder, CO.
