Michael Wood Bartlett February 26, 1947 October 25, 2012 Michael Wood Bartlett, of Jarrell, Texas, joined his mother and father in spirit on Thursday, October 25, 2012. Services will be Tuesday, October 30, at 11:00. a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Lorena with burial following in the Lorena Cemetery. Michael was born to Mary Alice Bartlett and Earnest Leverne Bartlett on February, 26, 1947. As a boy, he became the youngest Eagle Scout in the country. He reveled in the outdoors and had a lifelong enthusiasm for creative tinkering. A proud graduate of the University of Texas and member of the Showband of the Southwest, he was an avid sports fan who taught and supported his children in every sport they played, never missing a game. Michael was devoted to public service, and retired from a long and successful career with the Texas Workforce Commission. Michael's most treasured moments were time spent with his family, especially his beloved granddaughters. Michael is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Starr Trice Bartlett; son Kenneth Alexander Bartlett; daughter and son-in-law Sara Melanie Bartlett Norrell and Eric Alexander Norrell and daughter, son-in-law and three granddaughters, Elizabeth Megan Bartlett, Chip Clark, Maya Elizabeth Bartlett, Gabrielle Bailey Bartlett and Emeline Rose Clark. He is also survived by his brother, Samuel Gene Bartlett and his wife, Doris and their family, as well as many other relatives and friends.
