MIKE BRACKEN, SR., 57, of Waco died Wednesday, August 29, 2001 in a local hospital. A memorial services will be at 3:30 PM Tuesday, September 4, 2001 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home Chapel, 1124 Washington Ave., Rev. Jay Swoveland officiating. Mr. Bracken was born April 11, 1944 in St. Joseph, Miss to the late Al C. and Jerri Blessing Bracken. He was a graduate of Waco High School in 1962, where he played football. Mike received a scholarship to play football at the University of Oklahoma. He later attended Navarro Jr. College. He served in the Marines from 1964-68 as a Sgt stationed in Okinawa. Mike was a longtime employee with American Income Life Ins in Waco and Salt Lake City, Utah. He founded Central City Car Care Center in 1979. Mike was a pilot and loved to fly. He was very active in the community serving in the Optimist and Rotary Clubs. He initiated the Lunch Buddy Program with Waco Independent School District. Survivors include his wife Carol Bracken; his daughter Mallory Bracken; his stepdaughter Jennifer Wright; two sons: Mike Bracken, Jr. and Steve Bracken; his brother Richard Bracken of Littleton, Co and two grandchildren: Riley Bracken and Lenore Wright. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society and American Kidney Foundation. WILKIRSON-HATCH-BAILEY
