FOSTER, MILDRED GRAVES Mildred Graves Foster, age 96 of Waco died Thursday, March 13, 2003 at a local nursing home. Services will be held at 3:30pm Saturday, March 15 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel, 6101 Bosque Blvd. with Chaplain Curtis Holland officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 5-7pm Friday, March 14 at the funeral home. Mrs. Foster was born October 15, 1906 in Mexico City, Mexico. She grew up in Lorena and graduated from Lorena High School in 1924. She attended Southern Methodist University and Baylor University. She taught writing at Edinburg College where she met her future husband, Coach Joe Drahn Foster. Following their wedding they resided in Mexia, San Angelo, and Waco where Mr. Foster coached. Mrs. Foster was a devoted wife and mother. Mrs. Foster was a long time member of Austin Avenue Methodist Church and had been a resident of the Ridgecrest Retirement Community for 16 years. Preceding her in death were her husband, J. D. Foster in 1969, her parents, Eugene Fowler and Nora Berwick Graves and her brother, Henry Lee Graves. Survivors include sons, Joe D. Foster, Jr. and wife, Margaritt of Houston and Buzz Foster and wife, Gloria of Hemphill; granddaughter, Kathy Foster Rapp and husband, Steve of Houston; grandson, Gregory Graves Foster of Austin; brother, Eugene Fowler Graves of San Antonio; sister, Dorothy Graves Mosley of New Braunfels, and numerous nieces, nephews, their spouses and children.
