Milton Douglas Solomon

July 3, 1929 — September 29, 2010

Milton Douglas Solomon July 3, 1929 - September 29, 2010 Milton Douglas Solomon of Woodway, Texas, peacefully passed away at home on Wednesday, September 29, 2010. Services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 1, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with Rabbi Mordecai Rotem officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Thursday, September 30, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. Milton was born the youngest son of Sidney and Goldie Levinson Solomon on July 3, 1929, in Waco, Texas. Milton grew to be a man of honor and integrity, who possessed a great capacity to love and inspire love in others. After graduating from Waco High School in 1946, Milton attended Baylor University. As a young man Milton took a job with Southwestern Bell as a cable splicer, but after 7 years he found his true calling was buying and selling automobiles, and later boats. It was with a genuine affinity for people that Milton sought out and obtained a sales position at Waco Chevrolet and actually sold the first Corvette ever purchased in McLennan County. Eventually Milton's entrepreneurial spirit led him to open Outboard Sales and Service on North 19th street in Waco, which he ran for many years until he was recruited to the big city as the General Manager for Barber Boats and Motors in Dallas, Texas. Following a long and successful tenure at Barber Boats, Milton retired with his wife, Jayne Baker Solomon, to the city of his birth and his circle of cherished friends. Although Milton was a successful business man, his greatest joys were derived from his wife, children, grandchildren, many friends and pets. A truer heart has never led a family to be the absolute best they could be every single day, each knowing they are better just for simply knowing him. Milton is survived by his wife, Jayne Baker Solomon; and his children, Kevin David Copeland of Waco and Kimberly Kasey Copeland Frederick of Dallas; and his brother, Leonard Stanley Solomon. Milton is also survived by his adoring grandchildren, Max Pfeiffer-Frederick, Kristin Copeland, David Copeland, and Jessica Steakley. Lastly, Milton leaves behind his beloved Himalayan cat, Gabrielle. Honorary Pallbearers are J.L. Bergstrom, Jim Connell, Bob Baugh, Walter Frizzel, Kevin Copeland, Hubert Spradly, Dr. R.B. Kleiman, Leonard Gorin and Norman Keene. Please direct any honorariums to Fuzzy Friends Rescue of Waco, TX, or the Humane Society of the United States as was the wishes of Milton.
