Morris Mercy Raney

Morris "Mercy" Raney March 16, 1935 December 23, 2008 Wayne Morris "Mercy" Raney, passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2008. Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday, December 26, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with Rev. Kerry Groce officiating. Burial will follow at Axtell Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. prior to the service Friday, December 26, at the chapel. Mercy was born March 16, 1935 in Maysville, OK to Clifford Robert and Hattie Irene Jarman Raney. He grew up in Pauls Valley, OK and moved to Waco in 1952. Mercy worked for 7-Up Bottling Company a number of years and Tom's Peanuts before going into business for himself. He started his own business, Raney and Son Candy Company, and later opened Mercy's Tire Shop. After retiring, he worked harder than ever before, building driveways and shredding. He collected old toasters and was an avid gun enthusiast. He never missed a weekend at the flea market. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Floyd Dalton Raney and great granddaughter, Tierra. He is survived by his son, Dalton Wayne Raney, and wife, Teresa of Mesquite, NV; grandchildren, Kristi Raney, Scott Raney, Shane Raney, Randall Reyes and great granddaughter, Cierra Raney, all of Waco; step children, Jimmy, Billy, Sheila and Angie; aunts, Odell Jarman, Nita Jarman and Bobbie Jarman; brother-in-law, Richard Schaefer; sister-in-law, Pat Raney; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Scott Raney, Steve Jarman, Randall Reyes, Ricky Schaefer, Jimmy Matthews and Marshall Moore. Honorary pallbearers are Shane Raney and Richard Schaefer. Memorials may be made to Bluebonnet Hospice. A very special thanks to the folks at Lake Shore Village.
