Mrs. Clarence Alexandria Jones

September 19, 1921 — July 3, 2005

Jones, Alexandria X. Alexandria Xedias Jones, 83, died peacefully on Sunday, July 3, 2005 after a short illness. Services will be Thursday, July 7 at 10:00 AM at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 617 N. 17th St. in Waco with Father Ted Tsitisillianos officiating. Burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, July 6 from 6 to 8:00 PM and a Trisagion service at 7:00 PM at the funeral home, 6101 Bosque. Alexandria was born September 19, 1921 to Greek immigrants, Foteney and Aristotelly Xedias in Fort Worth, Texas. She grew up in Fort Worth and later moved to Waco where she graduated from Waco High School in 1939. She met and married Clarence Edwin Jones on January 22, 1946. Clarence died in 1974. She was a bookkeeper at F. W. Woolworth and Woolco for over 28 years, retiring in 1983. She was a longtime resident of Waco and a loving wife, mother and sister. She placed her God, family and friends first in her life, followed closely by her love of gardening and her cat Mavros. She was a part founder and active member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church. At the time of her death, she had been a member of the church longer than anyone else in the congregation. She generously contributed her time and financial support to her church. She brought a bright enthusiasm and vigorous energy to everything she did. Her memory will survive in the hearts of those who loved her. May her memory be eternal. Alexandria now joins her husband, Clarence, and her sisters, Aphrodite Giotes, Catherine Fox and Mary Hodges in eternity with the Lord. She is survived by her son George Edwin Jones and his wife, Jacqueline of Kingwood; daughter, Carolyn McCutchen of Belton; sister, Nickie Barakis of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Sharon Jones, Jeffrey and Jennifer McCutchen and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church. The family invites you to leave a message or memory in our “Memorial Guestbook” at www.wilkirsonhatchbailey.com.
