Myra Mcclure

September 22, 1943 — November 2, 2002

MCCLURE, MYRA Myra Myers McClure passed away Nov. 2, 2002, after a courageous battle with cancer. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 9 at Iredell First United Methodist Church in Iredell, Texas. Myra was born Sept. 22, 1943, in Waco to Jessie Jewell Vinyard and Willard Webster Myers. She attended LaVega High School and after graduating from Baylor University in 1971, she moved to Dallas where she resided for 25 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, William B. McClure Jr., a prominent Dallas attorney. She moved to the Iredell community in Bosque County following her husband's death in 1998. She was elected Mayor of Iredell and was serving in that capacity at the time of her death. Myra was a generous and caring person who supported many worthy causes. She was particularly interested in helping young people. She was a member of Iredell First United Methodist Church. Her interests and hobbies included travel, genealogy and photography. She was an avid reader and was keenly interested in Texas history and politics. She is survived by her daughter, Leslie Henry of Robinson and husband David Henry; stepsons, Bryan McClure and wife Lisa of St. Petersburg, Fla., Scott McClure and wife Tara of Atlanta, Ga.; and her grandchildren, Arielle Henry, Erica Henry, Joey McClure and Megan McClure. Myra is also survived by her mother, Jewell Gaskamp of Waco; sisters, Ann Reed and husband Ed of Waco, Betty Faulk of Fort Worth and Judy Maggard and husband Kenneth of Waco; seven nephews and eight great-nephews and nieces. Myra will be missed dearly by her family and many friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Iredell Independent School District, P.O.
