Myrtle Dunn May 6, 1932 - July 20, 2015 Myrtle Dunn, 83, of Waco, died peacefully in the presence of family and friends on July 20, 2015, after a brief stay at a local hospital. Myrtle is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and is free of the physical struggles caused by a major stroke three years ago. Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 25, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with the Reverends Jim Houser and Ron Durham officiating. Burial will follow at Harris Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, July 24, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Myrtle was born May 6, 1932, in Criswell, Texas, to Oscar and Eva Grisham. After a brief time in Houston following the death of Myrtle's father, the family moved to Waco in 1943, where Myrtle attended school and graduated from Waco High School in 1949. On May 12, 1951, Myrtle married her best friend, Henry Dunn. Myrtle and Henry were married 39 years until Henry's death in 1991. They were inseparable partners in the raising of their two sons as well as their employment at the Waco Tribune Herald for 26 years. In 1978, they went into the auto repair business, first as owners of Midas Muffler and later as owners of Dunn Brake & Tire Service. Myrtle was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. This was evident in the way she lived her life. She was always loving, compassionate, encouraging and supportive, putting her family before herself. Myrtle was an active member of Bosqueville Baptist Church until her stroke in June 2012. Myrtle is survived by sons, Cecil Dunn and wife, Trish, Steve Dunn and wife, Debbie; granddaughters, Jennifer Crissman and husband, Brian, of Georgetown, Texas, and Haley Dunn of Waco; grandsons, Patrick Dunn and Hunter Dunn of Waco; as well as great grandchildren, Miranda Crissman, Leia Crissman and Carson Lassiter; sisters, Letha Gradel and Bobbie Christian of Waco; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Our family is very thankful to the caregivers that so lovingly cared for Myrtle over the last three years, most recently Maria Moreno, Rene Jefferson, Linda Smith and Lori Robertson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bosqueville Baptist Church. The family invites you to leave a message or memory in our "Memorial Guestbook" at www.WHBfamily.com.
