Myrtle Martin

July 29, 1918 — November 9, 2002

MYRTLE MARTIN Myrtle Martin, age 84 of San Antonio, formerly of Waco, died peacefully Saturday, November 9, 2002 after a long battle with cancer. Graveside services will be held at 1pm Friday, November 15 at Waco Memorial North with Rev. Ron Durham officiating. Arrangements are through Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey, 6101 Bosque Blvd. Mrs. Martin was the daughter of Garland and Lydia Nichols and was raised on a remote West Texas farm, along with eight brothers and sisters. She married James Stanley Martin of Indian Gap, Texas in 1938. Mr. Martin’s job with Sinclair Oil Corp. led the family to Waco in 1956. In 1958 Mrs. Martin became a real estate agent working first for Ed Ware and later with Jim Stewart Real Estate where she had a very successful career for over 30 years. Stanley and Myrtle Lee were long-time members of Columbus Ave. Baptist Church. Survivors include children, Captain Ken Martin, USN Ret., Jan Alford, MSSW, and Cdr. Jay Martin, USN Ret.; grandchildren, Kara, Wendi, Kelly, Casey, Lindsay and Bailey and four great-grandchildren. The family of Myrtle Martin wishes to thank all of her friends and associates for their assistance and prayers these last two years.
