Nadine Burch

BURCH, NADINE STOUT Nadine Stout Burch, age 98, of Waco died Monday, June 30, 2003 at a local nursing home. Memorial services will be held at 11:30am Thursday, July 3 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel, 6101 Bosque Blvd. with Rev. Michael O. Patterson officiating. Private family burial will be held prior to service at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 5-7pm Wednesday, July 2 at the funeral home. Mrs. Burch was born July 28, 1904 in Wilmer, Texas to Stonewall Jackson and Lillian Bigby Stout. She graduated from Lancaster High School and was a graduate of the class of 1926 at Baylor University. While attending Baylor, she became a member of Alpha Omega which later became Pi Beta Phi Fraternity. She taught English in Wilmer Schools. She married Joseph Bryce Barney Burch October 13, 1927. He preceded her in death October 16, 1969. She was also preceded by a devoted housekeeper and family friend of fifty-three years, Agnes Vykukal. Mrs. Burch was an active member of First Baptist Church of Waco for many years. As a youngster, Nadine was baptized and dedicated her life to the Lord in a creek on the 4th of July. She was also an active member of Hamilton House, Thursday Study Club, Baylor Heritage Club, Hillcrest Auxiliary and Baylor Alum Club-Class of 1926. Survivors include daughter, Catherine Burch Bass of Dallas; son, Jackson Bryce Burch and wife, Sondra of Waco; grandchildren, Bryce, Treacy and Ben Burch of Waco and Cathy Bass Hawes and Paul Bass, III of Dallas; and nine great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Armstrong-Browning Library-Baylor University, Friends of Providence Park or charity of choice.
