Nathan Brickman November 1, 1918 - January 23, 2013 Nathan Brickman of Waco passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2013. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m., Sunday, January 27, at Rodef Shalom Cemetery with Rabbi Gordon Fuller officiating. Nathan was born November 1, 1918, in Waco to Abe and Rebecca Charroz Brickman. He graduated Waco High in 1936. He and his brothers, Barney and Dave, opened Brickman's Grocery Store January 23, 1937, where he worked until volunteering for the Air Force. Nathan served four years teaching airplane mechanics. After his discharge, he and his brothers opened Martha Jane Candy Factory and after a few years, they opened Brickman's Grocery. They later started Brickman's Salvage, where he worked before retiring in 1980. He married Gloria Feinstein in 1946, and they had two daughters, Beverly and Marilyn. Nathan was an active member of Temple Rodef Sholom, where he served as treasurer and president of the congregation. He was a member of Bnai Brith and was a Mason in Scottish Rite. He served as a consultant on the board of Score since 1986. Nathan served as secretary/treasurer of the Retail Grocers Association of Texas. Nathan was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife, Gloria; daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly and Larry Hicks and Marilyn and George Nachman; grandchildren, Hadley and Mark Quagliarello, Yale and Senem Hicks, Kellye Hicks; Blake Rawdin and Brooke Rawdin; great grandchildren, Avery and Olivia Quagliarello; sister-in-law, Bobbye Brickman; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Jake Bauer, Harvey Zigel, Ed Katten, Bud Unell, Danny Bounds, Buddy Marcuis, and Arnold Miller.
