Nicolas Joseph Hromadka

Hromadka, Nicolas Nicolas Joseph Hromadka passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2005 at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center. Services will be Tuesday, May 31 at 10:00 AM at St. Louis Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in West with full military honors. Rosary will be recited on Monday, May 30 at 6:00 PM at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey funeral home, 6101 Bosque Blvd. Nicolas was born on August 9, 1910 to Henry and Julia Cajkovsky Hromadka in West. He was a graduate of West High School and Texas Tech University. He married Bertha Agnes Bienek on May 6, 1936 in San Antonio. He retired from the U. S. Army as a CW04 with 21 years of service. He served in WWII and was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star during the Battle of the Bulge. He later retired from Ridgewood Country Club. Survivors include his wife of 69 years; son, Daniel Hromadka and wife, Pat of Waco; daughter, Marie Whiteside and husband, John of Hewitt; four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
