RUTH WHITLOW Nina Ruth Whitlow, 77, of Waco died November 2, 2001 in local hospital. Services will be 1:30 PM Tuesday November 6, 2001 at the Wilkirson – Hatch – Bailey Chapel, 6101 Bosque Blvd., with committal service to follow 3:30pm at Belfalls Cemetery with Minister John Rainey and Minister Deral McWhorter officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be Monday evening from 6pm until 8pm at the funeral home. Ruth was born January 18, 1924 in Chalk Bluff to Walter Bartlett Sorrells and Zana Lee Willis Sorrells. She was a graduate of Chilton High School in 1941 and attended Texas State College for Women in Denton, 1941 – 1942. She later married Ernest Jacob “Jake” Whitlow on May 29, 1942 in Denton TX, they moved to San Diego, CA, where Jake worked for Consolidated Aircraft during wartime. They moved back to Central Texas in 1944 to help Jake’s parents with farming in Belfalls. They then settled in Waco and Ruth worked as a receptionist from 1946-1965 for Dr. M.C. Carlisle, from 1965-1966 and 1986-1987 for Dr. William Avent, from 1967-1984 for the Waco Radiological Clinic where she retired. During those years, Jake worked for A.J. Curbo Grocery, Armour Meat Co., Rutland Meat Co. and retiring from Miller Meat Co in 1984. Jake preceded Ruth in death on November 18, 1991, about 6 months short of their 50th anniversary. She was also preceded in death by her parents, half brother Alvin D. Sorrells and a half sister Euna Bell Marroquin. She attended Southside Church of Christ in Robinson. Pallbearers will be JD. Bruce, Bobby Dameron, Mark Sorrells, Steve Sorrells, Mike Barr, Doyle Helms. Honorary Pallbearers will be Arnold Miller, Leonard Hardwick, Clayton Keever, Howard Rolf, Grady Barganier SURVIVORS: One Brother: James C.
