Olan Vick Hicks November 6, 1923 - August 29, 2015 Olan Vick Hicks of Waco passed away Saturday, August 29, 2015. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 2, at Chilton Cemetery with the Dr. Randall Perry officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 1, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home in Waco. Olan was born November 6, 1923 in Chilton, Texas, to Hunter Primrose Hicks and Ola Victoria Adams Hicks. During his early years, Olan farmed in Falls County. He moved to Waco in the mid 1970's and did volunteer work for his church. He moved to a retirement center in 1985 and continued his volunteer work, until recently. Olan was a friend to all and "helping" was what he loved to do. He will be greatly missed by all his friends and family. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Leatrice Johnson and husband, Buck, of Timpson, Texas; and brother, H. P. Hicks and wife, Eleanor, of Marlin, Texas. He is survived by his sister, Helen Gaylor Lipsey of Waco; brothers, Malvin "Mutt" Hicks and wife, Mary, of Chalk Bluff and Clayton Hicks and wife, Selma, of Franklin, Tennessee; and a host of nieces and nephews and many friends. The family would like to thank the staff and all the caregivers at Providence Park and all the staff, doctors and nurses at Providence Hospice for all their care and compassion.
