Oleta Kirkland Gibson passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2021. Visitation will be 2:00 pm-4:00 pm, Sunday, May 23, 2021 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. Graveside Services will be 10:00 am, Monday, May 24, 2021, at Rosemound Cemetery with members of her family officiating. Oleta was born August 3, 1915, in Moody, Texas, to Herschel and Zula Harris. She lived in Waco until 1999 when she moved to Monroe, Louisiana to be close to family. At age 102, she left her apartment to live at a loving nursing home called Avalon Place. She continued to love visits by family and friends, as well as living out a life of faith and strong Christian testimony. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Bill Kirkland and A.J. Gibson, her brothers, Gene and Alvin Harris, and her daughter, Cynthia Mazza. She is survived by her son, Ralph Kirkland and wife, Teresa; son-in-law Frank Mazza; nephew Alvin Lamar Harris; and step-daughter, Nancy Schreiber. She is also survived by granddaughters, Michelle Gray and husband, Art, and Krista Johnson and husband, Lance; her grandsons Frank Mazza and wife Susanne, and Mark Kirkland and wife, Ellen; great grandchildren, Ashley Griffin and husband, Ben, Kelsey Lukasavitz and husband Lance, Bailey Debrow, Niko Mazza, Esther Kate Kirkland, David Kirkland, Emmy Jane Kirkland, and step-grandson, Will Johnson; great-great granddaughter Ryleigh Griffin, step great-great grandchildren Levi, Josh and Layla Schreiber and great-great grandbaby Lukasavitz due October, 2021.
