Olga Emelia Fallen October 10, 1931 - May 8, 2009 Olga Emelia Fallen of Waco passed away Friday, May 8, 2009. Services will be at 4:00 p.m. Friday, May 15, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with Rev. Wes Yeary officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Brunswick, Georgia. Olga was born October 10, 1931, to Edward James Fallen and Olga Westermark Fallen in Brunswick. She graduated from Glynn Academy, where she received the award of "Greatest Female Athlete" in the school's history. She received her BA from Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville, Georgia, and her Master of Science degree from the University of Tennessee. Olga joined the faculty of Baylor University in 1956 and served as an assistant professor of physical education through 1997. She developed Baylor's women's athletic program from its beginning within the physical education department in 1959 and from 1972-79 served as the coordinator of women's athletics. Under Coach Fallen the softball team advanced to the AIAW regional tournament in 1978 and 1979, and the Bearette basketball team earned two consecutive bids to the national AIAW tournament in 1976 and 1977, rated fifth and seventh in the nation in those years. Olga is survived by her brother, Edward Merrill Fallen of Albuquerque, New Mexico; one nephew, Dr. Jim Fallen of Albuquerque; three nieces, Sharon Shaver of Woodburne, Oregon, Ann Marie Hughes of Denver, Colorado, and Melanie Campbell of Phoenix, Arizona; and six great nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the Baylor Lady Bears Basketball Scholarship Fund in memory of Olga E.
