Olin Odis Christian January 4, 1917 - December 21, 2011 Olin Christian of Hewitt passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2011. Services will be 1:30 p.m., Friday, December 23, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with the Rev. Roy Marshall officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6:00 8:00 p.m., Thursday, December 22 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Olin was born January 4, 1917, in Mt. Calm, Texas, to James S. and Emma B. Christian. He and Virginia Ruth Etter married on June 9, 1938. They lived and farmed in the Birome Community. He was a deacon of the Birome Church, where he and Virginia were faithful members. He was active in all church and community activities and was known as being an excellent carpenter and craftsman. When he was not working his crops, he did carpenter work all around the area. After he retired from farming, he worked for Ronald Orr Construction in Hillsboro, Tex. After he retired from carpenter work, he and Virginia moved to Hewitt in February, 1987, to be near their daughter and son-in-law. They became members of Hewitt First Baptist Church, and Olin served as Deacon. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Virginia, in September, 1996; his parents; and his brothers and their wives, Willie and Lena Christian, T. Cobble and Ila Mae Christian, Millard and Alice Christian and Burian and Louella Christian. He is survived by his children, Don and Debbie Christian of Killeen, and Brenda and Norman Millsaps of Hewitt; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. Olin had been a resident of St. Catherine Center for several years. The family wishes to thank their staff for their loving care over the years. They also wish to acknowledge Providence Hospice for their care and support. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials may be made to Hewitt First Baptist Church and Providence Hospice.
