OLLIE HORSAK Ollie L. Horsak, 84, of Waco, died Saturday, February 23, 2002, at a local nursing home. Services will begin at 10:00AM, Wednesday, February 27, with a Rosary to be recited, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial, at St. Louis Catholic Church, the Rev. Melvin Dornak to be officiant. A graveside committal service will be held at 1:00PM Wednesday at Oakwood Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends will be 6:00-8:00PM Tuesday, February 26 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey, 6101 Bosque Blvd. Mr. Horsak was born August 23, 1917 in West, Texas to Louis F. & Millie Popp Horsak. He attended St. Mary’s School in West & West High School where he was captain of the football team in 1935. He also attended Baylor University. He married Ruth M. Seay of Waco on October 19, 1942. She preceded him in death on December 13, 1997. A son, Richard Horsak, preceded him in death on April 9, 1999. Mr. Horsak served in the Army during World War II. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and Bastogne where he was wounded twice. He received the Purple Heart with one Oak Leaf Cluster and EAME Campaign Ribbon with three bronze stars. He was employed at the Veteran’s Administration & U.S. Post Office where he retired in December 1977 after 36 ½ years of service. He was a life member of VFW Post 2148 and DAV. He was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers, the Military Order of the Purple Heart, USA, #476 & St. Louis Catholic Church. Survivors: 2 sons, Clifford Horsak & wife Marsha of Dallas, Barry Horsak & wife Carolyn of Austin; 1 daughter-in-law, Cathey Horsak of Waco; 5 grandchildren, Scott Horsak & wife Sherry, Kristin & Ryan Horsak & Reilly & Elise Horsak. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Popp, Scott Bates, Bob Lievens, Mike Simon, J. Fred Simon, III, Clarence Carpenter, and Wilfred Grimm. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity. WILKIRSON-HATCH-BAILEY
