Opal Oleene Bonds February 9, 1920 - February 14, 2013 Opal Oleene Bonds, 93, of Waco passed away Thursday, February 14, 2013, at St. Catherine's Center. Services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 18, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with the Rev. David Dover officiating. Burial will follow at Valley Mills Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, February 17, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. Oleene was born February 9, 1920, in Mart, Texas, to Adolf and Annie Bordovsky. She was a graduate of Riesel High School. Oleene continued her education at the Providence Hospital School of Nursing, where she was valedictorian of the class of 1943. Oleene married K. H. "Jake" Bonds on August 30, 1947, and they made their home in Waco. She was a longtime member of Brookview United Methodist Church, which later joined with Central United Methodist Church in Waco. She was preceded in death by her husband, K. H. "Jake" Bonds; one son, Gary J. Bonds; and one daughter, Elaine Bonds. She is survived by one grandson, Matthew Bonds of Waco; one granddaughter, Allison Bonds of Dallas; their mother, Karen Hall and husband, John, of Waco; two sisters, Dorothy Jurecka and Marguerite Brinkley; one brother, Theodore Bordovsky; many loving nieces and nephews; and a multitude of friends.
