Opal Rogers Hunt October 4, 1910 - January 30, 2012 Opal Rogers Hunt. 101, of Waco died Monday, January 30, 2012, at Providence Hospital. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 2, at Oakwood Cemetery. Mrs. Hunt was born October 4, 1910, at Rogers' Hill near Gholson, to Mr. and Mrs. T.J. Rogers. Her family consisted of early McLennan County pioneers, her grandfather having built the first two story log cabin west of the Mississippi. She graduated from Waco High School in 1928 and later from Four C Business College. She was employed in the district office of Safeway for several years. In 1937, she married Dumont H. Hunt and later assisted him in his wholesale linen distributorship business. Mrs. Hunt was a long-time member of Columbus Avenue Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 71 years; and her sister, Lillian Dutton. She is survived by her brother, T. Woodrow Rogers Sr. of Waco; two nieces, Mary Ellen Wright, and husband, John, of Waco and Katy Bourland and husband, Richard, of Ft. Worth; one nephew, Woody Rogers and wife, Ann, of Waco; as well as several great nieces and nephews and cousins. Memorials may be made to Columbus Avenue Baptist Church.
