Ophelia Peña, 94, of Waco, Texas entered her eternal home on May 26, 2024, in time to meet her husband on his birthday.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 7, 2024, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Benjamin Magnaye as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with Rosary to be recited from 7:00p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 6, at the Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home Chapel.
Ophelia was born May 5, 1930, to Apolonio and Maria Gonzales in Chicago, Illinois. She married her best friend, Thomas Peña on December 7, 1952. She was blessed with six beautiful daughters who she loved dearly. Ophelia devoted her life to her family and was a loving mother, wife, grandmother, and great grandmother. She will be greatly missed by her entire family. She was a devout Christian and member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Apolonio and Maria Gonzales; her siblings, Beatrice Gonzales, Helen Rodriguez, and David Gonzales.
She is survived by her siblings, Marina Martinez, Lupe Sais, Manuel Gonzales, Paul Gonzales, Daniel Gonzales, and Tony Gonzales; her daughters, Sandra Diaz, Yolanda Peña, Yvonne Borak and husband, Kevin, Lorraine Kelly, Marilyn Field and husband, William and Nancy Peña. Ophelia also leaves her beloved eight grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Kevin Borak, William Field, Stewart Castro, Lee, Mays, Joshua Wilson, Trey Field, Cody McDonough, and Leonardo Delgado. Junior pallbearers are Grant Mays, Joshua Wilson, Henry Mays, Parker Wilson, and Eli McDonough. Honorary pallbearer is Tony Gonzales.
