ORLENA HAMPTON HENDERSON Orlena Hampton Henderson, age 92, of Hewitt died Friday, June 20, 2003 at a local nursing home. Services will be held at 1:30pm Monday, June 23 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel, 6101 Bosque Blvd. with Rev. David Hampton officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial North. Visitation will be from 6-8pm Sunday, June 22 at the funeral home. Mrs. Henderson was born near Dawson, Texas. She attended Alliance Hall School. She worked in the Waco post office for 30 years. She had a teacher who wrote a poem about her: “High on the chart stands one so smart with wonderful grace and demeanor I will not leave it to you to try to guess who for this girl’s name is Orlena” She married her husband July 2, 1972 and traveled with him as he did his job. When her husband retired they moved to Hewitt. Survivors include husband, Carmen J Henderson of Hewitt and sister-in-law, Darville B. Hampton of Waco. Pallbearers will be Jerry Hampton, Boyd Hampton, Bill Keller, Bill Bingham, Jim Howell, and Kenneth Musgrave.
