Otis William Bill Punchard

Otis William Bill Punchard, Jr. November 2, 1926 March 2, 2014 Bill Punchard, 87, of Mart, passed away March 2, 2014 at Hillcrest Hospital in Waco. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, March 7, 2014 at First Baptist Church in Mart with Rev. Don Cannata officiating. A reception following the service will be in the church's fellowship hall. Bill was born in Waco, Texas to Otis and Ira Ann Killen Punchard. He was a 1944 graduate of Mart High School and a 1949 graduate of Baylor University. While a corporal in the United States Army during World War II, he served in a field hospital in the Philippines. He married Marianne Luckenbill Linden on September 27, 1958 in Temple, Texas. Bill worked as an agent for the Internal Revenue Service from 1955 until 1984, and farmed and raised cattle on the "homeplace" where he lived most of his life. He was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Mart, taught men's bible study and served as a deacon. Survivors include his wife, Marianne; his daughter, Anne Hinkle and husband, Delwin of Coppell; his son, Fred of Waco; and his daughter, Jeanne Wray and husband, Phillip of Coppell; grandchildren, Lindsay Hinkle and fianc, Robert Jilek; Stacey Israel and husband, Aaron; Lesley Wray and Andy Wray; and great-granddaughter, Savannah Israel. He is also survived by his sister, Marjorie Punchard Burleson of Bryan. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Mart, 601 East Texas Avenue, Mart, Texas, 76664.
