Ovella Brown August 21, 1927 - October 18, 2006 Ovella Brown of Waco passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2006. Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, October 21 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with Rev. Kay Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow at Valley Mills Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, October 20 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Ovella was born August 21, 1927 in Valley Mills, Texas to L.D. Burns and Vadie Freeman Burns. Ovella was a member of Cogdell United Methodist Church and graduated from Valley Mills High School. She worked for the Santa Fe Railroad during WWII and then worked for the Karem Shrine Temple where she retired. She was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter #7 in Waco. Ovella was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Rebel Brown. She is survived by one son, Mike Brown of Hurst; granddaughter, Heather Brown of Dallas; sister Bobbie Burns Hammer of Richardson; brothers, Claude Burns of Valley Mills, Clyde Burns of Round Rock and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Cogdell United Methodist Church.
