BASKIN, PATRICIA Patricia Ruth Nail Baskin, age 67, of Woodway slipped gently into the hands of the Lord. She passed away at home and was surrounded by her family. Services will be held at 11:30am Friday, May 23 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel, 6101 Bosque Blvd. with Dr. Burt Burleson officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 7-8pm Thursday, May 22 at the funeral home. Pat was born June 4, 1935 in Waco to Dr. and Mrs. R.S. Nail. She was a graduate of Waco High School class of 1953. She completed undergraduate and master’s degrees in history at Baylor University and later completed a doctorate in education at Peabody, The School of Education at Vanderbilt University. She was a lifelong educator who loved to learn and teach. Her teaching career spanned decades and touched hundreds of lives. She taught at Richfield High School, Vanguard College Preparatory School, and the Webb School in Tennessee and was an Assistant Principal at Waco High from 1986-1988. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and received several honors from professional organizations in recognition of her contributions to the field of education. Her most cherished professional honors; however, come from her former students, many of whom over the years communicated the lasting impact her teaching has had in their lives. Since retiring in 1988, Pat has devoted her life to her two passions, her family and her antique business. She was a member of Day Spring Baptist Church whose love, prayers and support provided strength and inspiration through both happy and difficult times. She also belonged to the Waco Symphony, Historic Waco Foundation and the Brazos Forum. Pat was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend who will be greatly missed. She had a special way of touching all who knew her. Her profound faith, love and devotion of the Lord sustained her throughout her life and especially during her final days. Her parents and a sister, Peggy Nail Pender, preceded Mrs. Baskin in death. Survivors include her husband, Grady T. Baskin of Woodway, sons, David M. Littlewood and wife, Kimberly of Woodway and Shelby Scott Littlewood and wife Lauri of Monument, Colorado; grandchildren, Shelby Schwan Littlewood of Woodway, Jackson Cole Littlewood and Colton Dean Littlewood of Monument, Colorado; sister, Gloria Nail Longley of Albuquerque, New Mexico; twin brother, R. S. Nail of Albuquerque; step children, Sheryl Mauro and husband, John of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Barry Baskin and wife, Deborah of Huntersville, North Carolina and Bill Baskin and wife, Candice of Union, Kentucky and several nieces and nephews.
